To mark 70 years in business Luton-based waste management company, Cawleys, has big celebrations planned for 2017, starting with the unveiling of its first 70th Anniversary Refuse Vehicle.
The Heil Big Bite has been remanufactured and liveried by Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd (RVS).
Phil Gudgeon, Head of Waste Collection, Cawleys said: “We have had special livery designed to mark this momentous milestone in the company’s history. The vehicle looks and operates like a new vehicle, thanks to RVS. We are so impressed that we have just bought another one exactly the same and that will also be painted with our anniversary logo.”
RVS will be carrying out full body and bin lift servicing on Cawleys refuse vehicles including LOLER testing and replacing hydraulic filters. As part of its Preventative Maintenance service the vehicles will be serviced twice a year.
Phil said: “There’s not much the people at RVS don’t know about refuse trucks and we want our vehicles in the best hands. They are also very honest and good to work with so we are keen to build a long-term relationship with them.”
RVS supplies cost effective refuse vehicles either new from stock (RediTruck), Remanufactured or Quality Used, as well as a full range of support services including repairs, maintenance, vehicle hire, contract hire, parts and finance.
Paul Brown, Commercial Director, RVS said: “Congratulations to Cawleys on their Anniversary! They are a great company and we wish them continued success. Over the years we’ve expanded our services so that we can provide customers like Cawleys with everything they need to keep their fleet running well.”

About Cawleys
Established in 1947 by Reg and Frank Cawley, the company’s principal activity in the early years was road building and they were a major supplier of road materials for the construction of the M1. Since then Cawleys has expanded with three sites in the South East, a HQ in Luton and sites in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. As well as running a national waste collection service, the company pioneered the use of anaerobic digestion (AD) for commercial food waste in 2008 and opened a state of the art Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in 2009.
Now a third generation family business, run by Reg Cawley’s son Jon Cawley, and his daughters Anna and Kate the company is now a strong and diverse resource management organisation.
