Hawkins & Scott is 'smashing recycling' with new 'Hulk' truck

Surrey-based waste & recycling company, Hawkins & Scott, has painted its brand-new refuse truck with the Hulk superhero and the words ‘Smashing Recycling’ to communicate its mission to increase recycling and raise awareness.

Hawkins & Scott provides a full range of waste disposal services, including skip hire, grab hire, muck away, tipper hire and recycling collection. 99% of everything the company collects is diverted away from landfill.

Grant Scott, Director, Hawkins & Scott said: “Our focus for 2019 is to encourage people to recycle more. We all need to be more conscious of what we throw away and where it is going. Our new truck will certainly attract attention!”

The roots of the company began in the 1800s when the great, great, great, grandfather of the current owner, Grant Scott, carried out a wait and load service with a horse & cart. The company developed quickly servicing major clients on Fleet street, including the Daily Mail, which is still a customer today and was a major contributor to waste clearance during the development of the London Underground Northern Line.

The ‘Hulk’ truck is a 26T DAF CF330 6x2 Olympus with Beta Trade bin lift and is fitted with the MOBA bin-weighing and a Brigade camera system. It was supplied by Refuse Vehicle Solutions on a 7-year contract hire package including full maintenance. The vehicle is from RVS’s RediTruck range of ‘off the shelf’ and ready for work brand-new refuse vehicles.

Grant Scott, Director, Hawkins & Scott said: “In the past we have bought direct from the manufacturers but the process can be very complicated, dealing with two different companies and deciding what chassis, body and ancillary equipment etc. I found it very frustrating and this time I just threw my hands in the air.

“A friend who runs a waste company recommended I talk to RVS and they’ve been great. They have managed the whole process for me and delivered the exact specification of vehicle and in a matter of weeks. The vehicle looks great and operates very well, and with RVS looking after it I hope it will stay that way for quite a few years.”

RVS started out remanufacturing refuse vehicles and now offers the complete range of services, selling brand-new refuse vehicles, known as RediTruck, as well as Quality Used vehicles. Alongside refuse vehicle sales and contract hire, RVS has its own hire fleet with over 75 vehicles available for short term hire, and provides repair & maintenance services, new and used spare parts, finance and low loader services.
