Kent-based waste management company, Mobile Compactor Services Ltd (MCS) is complying with the new Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) regulations introduced in London this month, by replacing its fleet with new Euro 6 ULEZ-compliant vehicles.
MCS is a family-run business and has been serving clients across the South East and in the London Boroughs for nearly 25 years. Lisa Choppen, Director, MCS:
“We’ve been operating in London since 1995 and we don’t want to let any of our customers down so we are replacing the majority of our fleet to comply with the new low emissions regulations. The new vehicles are also equipped with the latest safety and weighing equipment so its a major investment for us.”
MCS specialises in office refurbishments, renovations and major fit-outs, with high profile customers, which include the Gherkin and the SHELL building that is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound re-fit.
First to arrive in the new MCS fleet are two brand-new refuse vehicles, from Gloucestershire-based Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd (RVS). RVS prides itself on providing brand-new trade waste vehicles in very short time-scales and to reflect this they have named the service, RediTruck. In keeping with its name the vehicles were delivered within 2 months of the order being placed.
Lisa added : "This is the first time we have bought new refuse vehicles and we are more than happy with the service from RVS. Not only did they have the right specification of vehicles, but they also delivered them in less than half the time it would have taken if we’d gone direct to the manufacturers. They also offer a host of support services, such as mobile engineers and hire vehicles, which we can draw upon if we need to.”
Paul Brown, Commercial Director, RVS said : “The new low emission regulations are a challenge for many operators and replacing vehicles quickly is not only expensive but difficult to achieve when the average wait time for a new vehicle is 9 months. This is why we started our RediTruck service. We know what operators want so we have a rolling stock of different configurations of vehicles, that are ready for work and can be delivered in short time-scales.”
As well as collecting compacted waste with refuse vehicles, MCS also operates a fleet of caged lorries to collect and dispose of lighter, bulkier waste materials. As part of its fleet replacement programme, MCS are waiting for the imminent delivery of 6 new Euro 6 Iveco caged tipper vehicles.
RVS provides a complete solution for refuse vehicle operators, supplying a wide range of refuse vehicles – new, quality used and remanufactured – as well as a host of support services comprising service, breakdown cover, contract hire, short term hire, new and used spare parts, finance and low loader services.
