One of the UK’s largest independent waste management companies, Nordic Recycling, has taken the decision to replace its current waste collection hire fleet by purchasing its own vehicles from leading refuse vehicle re-manufacturing company Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd.
Sean Spoors, General Manager, Nordic Recycling said: “We have found hiring vehicles to be an unreliable solution so we took the decision to operate our own fleet. We looked at buying new vehicles but didn’t want that level of capital expenditure, so we investigated the second hand market place and RVS were recommended to us time and again.
“When we visited RVS we liked what we saw and compared to the other providers we spoke to, they were much more professional and responsive.”
After receiving the specification for three vehicles, RVS had delivered the first vehicle within 8 weeks of receiving the order – a 26t rear steer Mercedes Econic with Heil Powerlink body, fitted with brand new Zoeller trade bin lift. The remaining two vehicles, with exactly the same specification, will be delivered by the end of May. Two of the vehicles are fitted with the ENVIROWEIGH dynamic bin-weighing system from Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd.
Sean added: “The crew are delighted with the new vehicle and that all the vehicles will be the same. They are also relieved not to suffer vehicles that break down all the time. Our customers are also pleased that our fleet looks better and is branded with our corporate identity.”
Spencer Law, Managing Director, RVS said: “Nordic are an impressive company and it is a big compliment that they have chosen us to help them establish their first fleet. We look forward to working with them into the future.”
Nordic Recycling was first established in 1995 and is owned by Forth Ports Ltd, one of the UK’s largest port operators. Nordic is a ‘one-stop shop’ for all waste streams, providing a comprehensive range of waste collection, recycling and treatment services. The company also operates its own MRF based at Tilbury. Its customers include high profile blue chip companies from the industrial and commercial sector as well as public sector clients.
RVS specialises in revitalising second hand dust-carts, stripping them down and replacing or repairing worn or defective parts to provide high quality ‘as new’ vehicles that are fully serviced & inspected, and cost a fraction of the price of a new vehicle but offer the same operational longevity.
