Re-manufactured Fleet For 'Zero Heroes' Devon Contract Waste

The only company in the South West to provide a Zero to Landfill service, Devon Contract Waste, has turned to re-manufactured vehicle specialists Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd (RVS) to expand its fleet quickly and meet the demands of new business.

Simon Almond, Managing Director, Devon Contract Waste, said: “Since we launched our Zero to Landfill in response to new environmental legislation we have experienced a huge surge in new business. We needed some new vehicles quickly to cope with demand and we chose re-manufactured vehicles because of availability and capital cost.”

The latest vehicles comprise a 2005 Dennis Elite 2, Phoenix 2 body with Beta Trade Lift and a 2007 Daf LF55, NTM body with 1100L Trade Bin Lift.

Spencer Law, Managing Director, Refuse Vehicle Solutions Ltd: “Both vehicles required significant re-manufacturing and modifications.  We had to seal the NTM body to accept food waste, modify the height of the front of the body and fit a drain-off as well as a drip-tray under the tailgate seal.  We installed a Beta2 bin lift to the other Dennis truck as it was open at the back. From placement of the order to delivery of the vehicles took under 6 weeks.”

Continued Simon: “The quality of the vehicles from RVS is difficult to tell apart from brand new vehicles plus they offer the same operational lifetime.   We’ve saved around 40% of the capital cost of a new vehicle and the service from RVS is superb.  We won’t hesitate to go back again when we expand the fleet again later this year.”

Refuse Vehicle Solutions specialists in providing high quality and re-manufactured, cost effective refuse vehicles.  RVS has the expertise and resources to engineer a vehicle to meet a customer’s precise requirements, including full or partial body re-manufacturing. With a reputation for beating manufacturer’s lead times, RVS can often source, re-manufacture and deliver an ‘as new’ vehicle in under 4 weeks.

Devon Contract Waste invested £4m in its own Materials Recycling Facility earlier this year at a time when the Government was introducing new legislation requiring organisations to treat their waste according to the waste hierarchy i.e. Prevention; Re-use; Recycle. Devon Contract Waste helps companies to meet this new legislation, at the same time improving their environmental performance. With over 20 years in the industry Devon Contract Waste has some prestigious clients including the Met office, Devon & Cornwall Police, NHS Devon and Exeter Airport.
