Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is practicing what it preaches by recycling its skip and hook loader fleet with a major vehicle refurbishment programme.
Smiths, who recently won Waste Transfer and Skip Hire Business 2019, asked us to give their hook and skip fleet a second life.
We are remanufacturing the bodies of five vehicles and fitting them onto new chassis. Two of the vehicles have already been delivered and each finished vehicle should deliver another 10 years+ of operational service, for a fraction of the price of a new vehicle.
Simon Allen, Divisional Operations Manager, Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd: "We are a recycling company and we don’t want to waste the resources and energy that went into making these vehicles. Not only is this a more environmentally sustainable way to refresh and optimise our fleet, it is also much more cost effective than buying new vehicles.
"The vehicles are pristine, inside and out, when they come back. We have used RVS for years, mainly for hire and parts, and we trust them to do the job correctly. They have in-depth knowledge about these vehicles, and they know how to do a comprehensive review. Their team of engineers are highly experienced, and well-qualified."
