An increasing number of waste management operators and local authorities across the UK are choosing to replace their fleets with Quality Used refuse vehicles as a more cost effective and sustainable option than purchasing new vehicles.
Commercial Waste Ltd provides trade waste and recycling services across West London and towns to the south and west of the M25. The company recently purchased 4 Quality Used vehicles from Refuse Vehicle Solutions (RVS), the UK’s leading specialist provider of remanufactured and Quality Used refuse vehicles. The vehicles comprised three Dennis Elite 2, Phoenix 2 with Terberg Omni Trade Bin lifts and one with a Zoeller Trade Bin lift and a 2007 Iveco Toploader.
Andy Bishop, Owner, Commercial Waste Ltd said: “We are big fans of second hand vehicles and we only buy ex-local authority dustcarts. The vehicles from RVS were immaculate and their after sales service was far superior to other suppliers we have dealt with. The support was excellent. I’m so impressed I’ve given them a shopping list of vehicles we are interested in purchasing in the future!”
RVS specialises in revitalising used refuse vehicles, stripping them down and replacing or repairing defective parts to provide high quality ‘as new’ vehicles that cost a fraction of the expense of a new vehicle. The company has the engineering capabilities to adapt, modernise or remanufacture any make or model of refuse vehicle to match each client’s individual needs and budget.
Spencer Law, Managing Director, RVS: “We offer a one stop shop, and take the hassle out of buying a second hand vehicle. We source the vehicle, put it through our meticulous 72 point check to remove all defects and deliver it to the customer in their choice of livery, ready for work. In most cases we can achieve all of this within 6-8 weeks, which is much quicker than most manufacturer’s lead times.”
Continued Spencer: “Many of our clients are aiming to achieve Zero Waste status for their own business and their customers. Our business model fits well with the principles of the Circular Economy, and Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.”
At the other side of the country in Linwood, Scotland, The William Tracey Group is another advocate of remanufactured vehicles having just added two Quality Used Mercedes Econic RCV’s from RVS to its fleet. The vehicles are fitted with Heil Powerlink bodies and new Zoeller trade lifts, as well as carrying the latest AMCS Group onboard computer technology for real-time online communication between the vehicle and the company’s IT system. They were shot blasted and repainted before being delivered with 12 months MOT, serviced and fully valeted.
Irvine Morrison, General Manager – East, William Tracey Group: "The standard of the vehicles from RVS is such they provide a cost effective, practical and sustainable alternative to buying new when we need to expand our fleet. Reusing vehicles in this way complements our mission to achieve zero waste for our business as well as our customers."
