Swindon Commercial Services Ltd (SCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Swindon Borough Council, has placed an order for six re-manufactured RCV’s from Gloucestershire based re-manufacturing specialists Refuse Vehicle Solutions.
The vehicles, all with 6x4 standard width Dennis Elite 2 chassis, are due for delivery in February and comprise three Dennis Phoenix 2 bodies with OTTO Continental 2 bin-lifts for domestic waste and three Geesink GPM3 bodies with Combi S3 trade bin-lifts for green trade waste.
Martin Britchford, Fleet Buyer, Swindon Commercial Services said: “Last year we bought a vehicle from RVS and when it was delivered, in under 3 weeks, it was difficult to tell it apart from a new vehicle. If we can get the equivalent lifetime and operational standards from re-manufactured vehicles as we can from new vehicles, at the same time making significant savings against capital costs, we are able to provide a much better value for money service.”
Refuse Vehicle Solutions specialise in the re-manufacturing of second hand refuse vehicles from full or partial body re-manufacturing to the provision of a complete refuse vehicle. They also offer a comprehensive parts, safety equipment and lighting products service.
Spencer Law, Managing Director, RVS said: “We are delighted to have been awarded such a significant contract and to be continuing our relationship with SCS. Our vehicles are in a league of their own and because we are not at the mercy of manufacturer’s lead times we can often deliver vehicles that match a customer’s specification, much quicker.”
