Newsletter - MAY 2017

Looking for something to keep the kids entertained this half-term? Or just fancy a nice day out? Come along to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 10 June as the town hosts the National Refuse Championships.

Grab an ice cream and watch over 100 refuse vehicle drivers and loaders from crews across the UK compete to win the National Refuse Championships trophy 2017.

The public area features an inflatable zone and merry-go-round for younger children. Food and drink will be available to purchase and there is a secure viewpoint for spectators.

For those in the industry there are lots of networking opportunities with an exhibition area, bar and post-race party during the evening with a Fish ‘n’ Chip supper and music from a range of tribute bands.

Hope to see you (by the seaside)!

Service Please!

Our Field Services continue to gain popularity right across the country! We have recently purchased four new service vans and employed two new mobile service engineers to meet customer demand.

Introducing new members of the team!
Sam Coombs
Service & Parts Sales Executive

Sam will be travelling the length and breadth of England with our fully stocked parts van, visiting customers’ depots and supplying new and used parts as well as advising on vehicle repairs.
Keith Bernard
Field Service Engineer

Based in the Midlands Keith has over 15 years experience as a HGV mechanic, particularly refuse vehicles. Keith will be carrying out repairs and service work for customers across the East & West Midlands.

Jake Ellis
Field Service Engineer

Jake is based in the South East and will be focused on customers across London, Kent and the South East. Jake completed his apprenticeship at DAF before qualifying as a HGV Mechanic.
Refuse Vehicle Engineers Of The Future

Our Commercial Director Paul Brown recently went back to school for a day to help out at a Careers Fair focused around STEM (Science, Technology, Electronics and Maths) subjects at Rednock Secondary School in Gloucestershire.

We have some apprentices from the school and surprisingly our demonstrations proved to be the most popular of the day! We took along a Dennis Olympus 6x2 Rear Steer with Terberg automatic lift as well as one of our own service vans so that the students could get ‘hands on’ and try out the technology for themselves.

Tim Justice, Careers Advisor for the School said:

“The style of the presentation from RVS, using real trucks, was fun and really engaged students who prefer hands-on learning. We are hugely grateful to Paul and his team who gave their whole day to take part.”

“We are also thankful for RVS’ support over the past 3 years. When I visited their premises recently I was so pleased to see at least 3 familiar faces - ex-pupils who are now apprentices at the company. We need more businesses to look at taking on apprentices especially with the introduction of the new *Apprentice Levy.”
